No one knows exactly where fantasy began. It’s believed it started with the superstitions of the people of the ancient world. Back then, the fantastical stories people told about magic and mythical creatures were believed to be true.

Of course, as time went on, humanity evolved and fantasy became fiction. It was a fun way to embrace the possibilities of our world and worlds beyond. In the late 19th and early 20thcenturies, modern fantasy began to emerge with authors like George MacDonald, who later influenced J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.
