First, I want to say that I’m so happy to be co-hosting IWSG this month. It’s really helped me to stay focused and keep writing over the last year, so I’m so glad I can give something back. Check out the other co-hosts at the end of the post and give them your support.
Starting my new serial…
I’m really excited because I’m beginning work on my new serial, Emergence, this week. It’s only in the planning stages at the moment and won’t be available until next year, but it’s something I’ve been working up for the last two years. So it’s pretty exciting to officially start working on it.
Shadow Stalker has become really popular with my readers, and I know many of them are looking forward to Emergence as it’s the story of the shadow stalkers’ origins. In fact, it’s the origin story for all of the people of the Serpent Isles because it tells the story of the tragedy which resulted in their coming to call it their home.
Shadow Stalker Part 1 (Episodes 1 – 6) is a free download if you’d like to learn more about the serial and its upcoming prequel.

This month’s question…
When your writing life is a bit cloudy or filled with rain, what do you do to dig down and keep on writing?
When things are not so great in my life, I tend to have a hard time motivating myself to do much of anything, especially if it’s health-related. The funny thing is, writing is usually the one thing that will get me out of the rut.
Before, reading something or watching a really good movie was often enough to inspire me to write. If that didn’t work, I’d start planning a new story. If I couldn’t write, at least I could do something.
Since starting my new writing process and schedule, it doesn’t seem to be an issue anymore. Everything is broken down into such easy steps, it doesn’t require too much thinking. So even if the brain fog kicks in, it’s not hard to keep writing.
I’ve also found that a lot of my depression tends to kick in when I’m not writing, so as long as I keep following the new writing plan, I think I’ll be doing okay. What do you do to keep going when things get tough?
